PEPITO RUM PUNCH
Pepito rum punch is a sweet liqueur with rum punch flavor, strong aroma and dark red color. It is one of the oldest existing spirit brands of Croatian origin, produced for the first time in 1952. Pepito has a pleasant, breezy aroma and a recognizable name and appearance. It can be consumed as a cold or hot beverage.
THE STORY OF PUNCH
The word punch comes from the Indian word “panch” meaning five. These five refer to five ingredients from which it was made: sour, sweet, strong, weak and spice. In Barbados, they also have a rhyme for the correct punch preparation:
“One of sour, two of sweet, three of strong and four of weak, a dash of bitters and a sprinkle of spice, serve well chilled with plenty of ice.”
FIRST RUM PUNCH TASTE
The first association with the rich scent with which Pepito exudes must be creamy rum punch ice cream. One of the most beloved flavors takes us back to childhood and evokes positive emotions. Special ingredients used to give certain types of punch their distinctive flavor include star anise, orange, ginger, vanilla and clove. The final touch is achieved by adding the juice or (grated) rind of unprocessed lemon. Punch is usually served warm. While preparing, the drink should only be warmed slightly and should never boil. This preserves the taste, aroma and alcohol. We can also enjoy it as a cold, refreshing drink. In the eighteenth century, punch was a favorite both as a hot and as a cold drink. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who drank his first punch during a visit to England, enjoyed the excellent flavors of both versions.
WINTER JOYS WITH PEPITO RUM PUNCH
Pepito has a strong association with the holiday season, family togetherness and joy. It gives the desired warmth on cold winter days, mixed with hot water, tea or milk and served in a cup held with both hands.
SUMMER REFRESHMENT
In the summer months it can most often be met served in a large punch bowl with orange and lemon slices, and provides a great refreshment prepared with cold water and plenty of ice. It is equally tasty when prepared with cold milk. It is also used in the preparation of fruit salads and cakes.
